sulfur (S), also spelled and called sulphur, Sulfurnis a chemical element with the symbol S and atomic number 16 Wiki, nonmetallic chemical element belonging to the oxygen group (Group 16 [VIa] (Chalgens family) of the periodic table),

one of the most reactive (react chemically) of the elements. Pure sulfur is a tasteless, odorless, brittle solid that is pale yellow in color, a poor conductor of electricity, and insoluble in water.

It reacts with all metals  In chemistry, except for gold and platinum, forming sulfides; it also forms compounds with several nonmetallic elements. Millions of tons of sulfur are produced each year, mostly for the manufacture of sulfuric acid, which is widely used in industry.

History

Sulfur is written 15 times in the Bible, in the Egyptian era as early as 4,000 years ago. “Fire and brimstone” references in the many chapters of the  Bible are related to sulfur, suggesting that “hell’s fires” are burned by sulfur.
